Anzac Day is a time for the community to come together to remember and recognise the service and sacrifice of our Australian Defence Forces.
The day is associated with qualities of courage, mateship, duty and perseverance that Australian and New Zealand soldiers displayed during World War I.
Anzac Day is the commemoration of the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I and has evolved to become a day of national commemoration.
On Anzac Day we remember all the Australians who served, who were wounded and who made the ultimate sacrifice in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
In 2023, the Australian Government recognises the 50th Anniversary of the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War and we honour and remember the service of the 60,000 Australians who served there.
