Amanda wants to see more manufacturing and jobs in the South. The Albanese Labor Government is delivering not only now but into the future.
Locally, one of the ways we are doing is our partnership with the Malinauskas State Government, delivering needed infrastructure for the South, such as the North-South Corridor Torrens to Darlington project. This nation-building infrastructure project will connect the Southern Suburbs to the city as well as to the Northern Suburbs, providing a faster and safer commute for residents in the South. When finished, motorists will be able to bypass 21 sets of traffic lights and complete a non-stop 78-kilometre connection between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.
During construction, approximately 5,500 jobs will be created a year, with 90 per cent of the labour to be undertaken in South Australia. Already 30 local businesses have registered their interest as subcontractors, and over 600 jobs for apprenticeships and trainees have been committed to.
Amanda spoke about this significant investment as well as local roads and infrastructure projects such as the Majors Road on/off ramp, earlier this month in Parliament. You can watch Amanda’s speech here: Local Roads Funding (youtube.com)
