Doctors Road put forward as stimulus project

The Deputy Prime Minister has called out to councils and State Governments, asking for local road projects to be funded as economic stimulus to kickstart the economy post COVID-19.

Amanda, alongisde local State MPs Nat Cook and Chris Picton, is lobbing the Federal and State Governments to include the extension of Doctors Road as a stimulus project.

The land has been set aside since the 1980s for the eventual connection of Doctors and Panalatinga Roads, and the incompleted project is regularly raised by local residents. It is an important step in better connecting the surrounding suburbs with the rest of Southern Adelaide.

The project is also vital to the local Morphett Vale CFS, who have said it will shave precious minutes off response times to surrounding suburbs, in particular Woodcroft, Onkaparinga Hills and Reynella.

“This is exactly the sort of local road project that should be funded under federal economic stimulus as it will improve the connectivity, safety and accessibility of the community, and create much-needed construction jobs,”
