Frydenberg caught out lying

Tuesday, 09 April 2019

Last night Josh Frydenberg flat out lied to Australian families about the soaring price of child care under the Liberals.

During last night’s episode of Q and A, Josh Frydenberg claimed:

“We’ve fully targeted the low and the middle income earners. And, in the most recent CPI numbers, which is inflation which goes to cost of living as well, we’ve actually seen the child care prices come down.”

This is completely wrong.

It is true the Liberals like to selectively quote quarterly figures when it suits them, just ask the Environment Minister. The problem is, Josh just got it wrong.

The latest quarterly figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) saw a 1.4 per cent increase in child care fees during the September to December 2018 Quarter alone. (P.4)

Josh Frydenberg is lying to Australian families. In fact, under the Liberals child care fees have increased by more than 24 per cent since they were elected in 2013, leaving families to pay more than $2,500 a year for child care.

On top of this, Josh Frydenberg’s claim that the Government’s unfair child care system will help low and middle income families is also wrong.

The Liberal’s unfair child care system has left one in four families worse off – most of these are families who are in the two lowest income brackets.

This is a government so desperate it has resulted to spinning pure porky pies rather than tell Australian families the truth.
