Child care costs continue to rise under Liberal Government

Tuesday, 24 April 2018

Today’s report by the ABS only reaffirms the Turnbull Government is sitting idle when it comes to the cost of child care, with fees rising by 1.6 per cent during the March Quarter and 5.9 per cent over the year to the March Quarter.

For families who are already struggling to afford child care, today’s news is only compounding family budgets.

Child care costs have only increased under the Liberals, with total child care fees growing on average by 5 per cent annually since they were elected in 2013.

It is clear these figures continue to rise and the Liberals continue to sit on their hands.

This is only going to hurt the 279,000 families who will be worse off under the Turnbull Government’s unfair child care changes even more.

What is worse, these changes will hurt those families who can least afford it.

Whilst the Turnbull Government goes around spruiking its unfair child care changes they are doing nothing to ease the cost of child care for families.
