I am honoured to be reappointed to the Shadow Labor Cabinet as the Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development and as Shadow Minister for Youth.
Investment in young people is the best investment we can make for our future and bringing these two portfolios together will ensure there is a sharp focus on our children and young people.
It is clear that this role is more important than ever, as Scott Morrison and his Government continue to ignore the importance of early education.
We know that greater investment in our children and young people is an investment in our future and the Liberal Government refuses to acknowledge this.
I also look forward to taking on the role as Shadow Minister for Youth and thank Terri Butler for her work in this space.
It is my firm belief that pairing Early Childhood Education and Development with Youth is a nod to the understanding that our young people should not be forgotten by government.
It is important more now than ever that young people are taken seriously as they are the key to our country’s future.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of those within the veterans community, especially those stakeholders and friends who worked with me to develop a platform on how we can better support our current and former serving personnel and their families.
There is still more work here to be done and I am pleased that my colleague, Shayne Neumann will continue to work in bipartisan with the government to ensure our defence personnel, veterans and their families continue to have a strong voice representing them in parliament, especially when it comes to accessing critical services in mental and allied health care.
I look forward to working in these two key policy areas as part of Anthony Albanese’s team to see a return of a Labor Government.
