Local residents are telling Amanda their health is suffering as a result of a shortage of General Practitioners in the South.
Those with a regular GP are waiting too long to get an appointment, and many doctors are stretched so thin they’ve been forced to close their books to new patients.
Even though the Department of Health have identified some areas in the South as having a GP workforce shortage, practices are unable to access the programs of support they need to get GPs on the ground.
Timely access to see a GP is critical to ensure the health of our community, which is why Amanda is calling on the Government to address the GP shortage.
The Government need to ensure there are systems and programs of support in place that address the GP shortage so that residents in the South can access the quality healthcare they need.
