Amanda is fighting hard for the South in a number of Parliamentary and Caucus committees.
The Standing Committee on Health and Ageing is to carry out inquiries in to matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government. The Committee can also inquire into matters raised in annual reports of Commonwealth Government departments and authorities or reports by the Commonwealth Auditor-General.
The Committee is currently inquiring in to the Roundtable forum on regional health issues jointly affecting Australia and the South Pacific.
The roundtable will complement the Committee’s earlier discussions in Cairns and the Torres Strait on cross-border health concerns, including, malaria, dengue fever, and the spread of communicable diseases such as drug resistant tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
The Committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions addressing the terms of reference by Friday 25 September 2009. Please refer to our brochure called preparing a submission for more information.
In order to facilitate electronic publishing of submissions, the Committee would prefer them to be emailed to haa.reps@aph.gov.au or sent on disk or CD-ROM to the Committee Secretariat in Microsoft Word® or Portable Document Format (PDF).

The Committee is currently inquiring into cyber crime and its impact on Australian consumers and the wider community.
The Committee will report on the nature and incidence of cyber crime in Australia including financial fraud and theft of personal information and the impact of malicious software such as viruses and trojans.
The Committee has recently closed submissions and will soon be calling upon wittnesses as part of their enquiry.
